This was our first big wedding since the gathering restrictions have been partially lifted due to COVID-19 and it was everything we could have ever wanted, and so much more! Alison and Thomas initially planned to have around 400 guests, but due to everything going on right now, they ended up having around 200 of their closest friends and family in attendance, and it was absolutely perfect. After posting their sneak peek images on our Facebook page, I received about half a dozen texts from other brides asking how it went; if it was odd? Or if people seemed afraid? How the party went? Did everyone wear masks? Well, in answer to that question; it just felt normal, in the best kind of way. Aside from providing their guests with hand sanitizer stations and offering disposable masks during the Grand March dance, nothing felt different, and in my opinion, that was a much a needed sense of joy for so many in attendance.
To add to that, from a more personal perspective, about a week before the wedding, I sent such a cheesy email to Alison, telling her that I had never been so excited to shoot a wedding, EVER IN MY LIFE. And while cheesy, it was the honest truth. I needed to be there; to be creative again, to capture love, and to honestly, just to feel useful again. Without going into too much detail (I mean, I could probably type a novel here), these last three months have been hard, like really really hard, y'all. And getting back to work truly made me feel human again.
For that, I am so grateful! Thank you, Alison, and Thomas for allowing me to celebrate your day with you, it meant more than you will ever know. ❤️
